MEC is being developed around authenticated access, role-sensitive permissions, minimum-necessary information exposure, and auditable activity.
Requester identity and role are intended to be verified before access is granted.
Different users may receive different levels of access depending on role and approved use case.
Access and notification activity can be recorded to support review and accountability.
MEC is in development and pilot validation. Security architecture, hosting choices, penetration testing, privacy controls, data-retention policies, incident-response processes, and regulated-data requirements are expected to be refined with qualified technical and legal advisors before production deployment.
MEC does not claim to be “HIPAA certified.” Before any healthcare deployment involving protected health information or other regulated data, the applicable privacy, security, contracting, and compliance requirements would need to be determined with the participating organization.
Provide only the access reasonably needed for the approved role and use case.
Limit exposed information to what is appropriate for the emergency-contact workflow.
Use role and identity checks before protected information is displayed.
Maintain records of material access and notification activity.
